What is Zooniverse?
Scientific research generates an enormous amount of data, but researchers often don’t have the time or resources to review it all. That’s where the power of collective action comes in. Through Zooniverse, volunteers help researchers analyze and classify data, uncovering patterns and insights that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Participants step into the role of citizen scientists, analyzing real research data, identifying patterns, and making observations that help researchers uncover insights hidden within massive datasets. While AI can process data at scale, human volunteers bring something uniquely valuable: curiosity, context, and the ability to recognize unexpected details and patterns that algorithms may overlook. The collective wisdom of thousands of participants helps researchers advance discoveries, contributing to a deeper understanding of everything from our planet to the far reaches of the universe.
Programs can involve projects such as identifying animals to support conservation efforts, digitizing Italian meteorological data to understand climate change, or tracing the brain's pathways to help understand how diseases impact the brain.
